After three thrilling days of action on the virtual felts, only one competitor remained standing in Pokerstars Event 100-H $10,300 WCOOP PLO Championship, "Imbajimbaa". There were a total of 100 entries into the tournament, generating an even $1,000,00 prize pool. "Imbajimbaa" took home the lion's share of that pool at $233,532.10. They defeated "anonymstruts" relatively quickly in heads-up play to capture the title.
"Imbajimbaa" started the final day as the chip leader with over 100 big blinds, but "anonymstruts" was not too far behind. They did briefly lose their chip lead at points to the eventual runner-up, but never fell lower than second in chips. "Imbajimbaa" played aggressively, picking up the eliminations of Aku "Aku1206" Joentausta in 5th, Joao "Naza114" Vieira in 4th, and "ABIDO" in 3rd, as well as, of course, the runner-up.
Place | Player | Country | Prize (USD) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | "Imbajimbaa" | Denmark | $233,532.10 |
2 | "anonymstruts" | Sweden | $176,216.40 |
3 | "ADIBO" | Hungary | $132,967.60 |
4 | Joao "Naza114" Vieira | Portugal | $100,333.30 |
5 | Aku "Aku1206" Joentausta | Finland | $75,708.50 |
6 | "jokkee_apart" | Norway | $57,127.40 |
7 | "eltucu64" | Argentina | $43,986.40 |
It didn’t take long for the first player to fall once final table action got underway. That was “eltucu64”, who got all their chips in on the turn with a pair, but was already drawing dead against a set of kings from Vieira, sending them out in seventh place.
Not too long after, the field was trimmed down to just five players, when “jokkee_apart” got it all in with tens full, but was outdone by “anonymstruts” making jacks full. This pot also led the biggest chip deficit that "Imbajimbaa" would face all day, as it left "anonymstruts" with over 10,000,000 chips.
The remaining five players spent the next two hours jockeying for position and trading chips, before Joentausta became the next to fall, after he got it all in on the flop and a heart on the turn gave his opponent a flush to send him to the rail. Vieira would be the next to be eliminated not too long after, when he got it all in with kings against aces and his opponent improved even further to a straight.
Following Vieira's elimination, "ADIBO" was a clear short stack relative to the other two, and while they battled briefly, but ultimately fell in third. They got their money in good, but "Imbajimbaa" spiked an ace on the river to usher in heads-up play.
Early in heads-up play, it seemed "Imbajimbaa" would coast to a victory, as they built up nearly a 4:1 chip lead. "anonymstruts" got the last of their chips in while behind, but managed to make a set on the river to double up and pull nearly even in chips.
Following that, "Imbajimbaa" was able to gradually build back their chip lead by applying pressure, and taking small to medium pots. Eventually, all the chips went in the middle with "Imbajimbaa" ahead. They were able to not only hold, but make the nut flush on the river to eliminate their heads-up opponent and capture the title.
