Welcome back to the ARIA Resort & Casino for Day 5 of the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl!
Several days ago a group of poker players with varying poker skills and accomplishments all anted up $300,000 to take a seat in the third installment of the Super High Roller Bowl. The action on the felt was intense, chaotic, and of the highest quality as the 56-player starting field was reduced firstly to a final table, then to an in-the-money final seven, and now to the last three. These final three players will be thanking their lucky stars after navigating one of the tournament fields ever assembled, and although they are already guaranteed a $2 million payout, their eyes will be set on the $3.6 million payout for second, but most importantly the $6 million first prize.
German Stefan Schillhabel may have been one of the least well-known players not only on the final table, but also in the entire field. However, Schillhabel has crafted a very impressive poker resume that includes over $2.4 million in lifetime earnings with a WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Championship victory in March 2016 for $1,298,000 the highlight of his results that stretch back to 2013 and include five tournament wins. Schillhabel enters this final day of play with 885,000 in chips; roughly 15 big blinds.
Christoph Vogelsang is no slouch at poker as he has been one of the regular names in high roller tournaments all across the world for several years now. Vogelsang's impressive poker resume includes over $7.7 million in lifetime earnings and a 5th-place on Germany's All Time Money List (with the possibility of moving up to 2nd with a victory today). However what it lakes is a finish better then the one he has locked up already. For Vogelsang, he has appeared at nine final tables and has four 3rd-place finishes to his name. If Vogelsang is to break his win-less drought, there is no better tournament to do it in then this Super High Roller Bowl, and after ending the penultimate day of play with 5,245,000 in chips — roughly 87 big blinds — he is definitely in position to make a run at it.
Finally we have Jake Schindler, the lone hope for the local USA crowd. Schindler came into the final table with the chip lead, and he'll carry that into three-handed play after ending play with a whopping 10,670,000 in chips; or roughly 178 big blinds. Although just 27 years old, Schindler has already accumulated over $9.2 million in lifetime earnings with his most notable results coming in the 2014 PCA $25,500 High Roller and the 2014 Hard Rock Poker Open $100,000 Super High Roller where he was victorious. However it is his results here at ARIA that are astounding as Schindler has managed to collect 5 wins and 12 six-figure cashes; the biggest of which was a share of a three-way chop in 2016 for over $835,000 in a $100,000 High Roller event.
