Jonas Van Baelen Eliminated in 17th Place ($7,995)

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Jonas Van Baelen
Jonas Van Baelen

Oskar Silow opened the cutoff for 27,000 and his neighbor Jonas Van Baelen called from the button. Big blind Jordan Spurlin came along as well and checked after the flop came {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. Initial raiser Silow checked as well, then Van Baelen bet 50,000. Spurlin called, and Silow folded.

The {8-Clubs} hit the turn and Spurlin bet out for 105,000. Van Baelen tanked for a bit and eventually moved all in. We did not get a count, as Silow called instantly.

Jonas Van Baelen: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades} — queens and nines
Jordan Spurlin: {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} — straight

The river {4-Diamonds} was a blank and Van Baelen exited.

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Lance Howard quadruples up
Lance Howard quadruples up

After falling deathly short, Lance Howard got his last remaining 42,000 in the middle preflop via a reraise-shove and received calls from Timothy Batow on the button, Fabian Schoneck in the big blind, and Loren Klein under the gun, who had made the initial raise.

The flop came {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and Klein tossed out a bet of 75,000, forcing folds from Batow and Schoneck.

Lance Howard: {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Loren Klein: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The turn was the {k-Hearts} and river the {3-Spades}, and Howard made a straight to stay alive and quadruple up.

Schoneck Doubles Through Barbarez, Then Howard

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Fabian Schoneck
Fabian Schoneck

Fabian Schoneck first put himself at risk against Sergej Barbarez, moving all in preflop.

Fabian Schoneck: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Sergej Barbarez: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades} and Schoneck scored a much needed double-up.

The very next hand, Schoneck three-bet pot preflop and was called by Lance Howard. The flop fanned out {4-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and Schoneck moved all in for 102,000. Howard went into the tank for just a moment before making the call.

Fabian Schoneck: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Lance Howard: {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Schoneck faded all Howard's outs when the board completed with the {j-Diamonds} then the {5-Diamonds}, and he survived again, leaving Howard as the short stack.

Loren Klein: {K-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Lisandro Doubles Through Klein, Law Takes a Chunk Too

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

On a {3-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop, Jeff Lisandro moved all in and was put at risk by Loren Klein.

Jeff Lisandro: {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Loren Klein: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Lisandro doubled with his trip threes.

During the previous hands, Klein had also lost chips both to Lance Howard and Chun Law. Howard won the first two pots of the day, making a straight against Shankar Pillai and then forcing out Klein in a pot on the flop.

Law then took down the next pot of roughly 200,000 with a bet of 100,000 on the river that Klein wasn't able to call. With those chips Law has nudged into the lead.

Loren Klein Leads to Start Final Day But Two Six-Time Champs Linger

Loren Klein
Loren Klein

Two six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winners will be part of the field for the third and final day of Event #41: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha. One — TJ Cloutier — is sitting near the top of the chip counts, while the other-- Jeff Lisandro is all the way at the bottom.

Just 18 players remain as to battle for the bracelet this afternoon. Cloutier begins the day with 449,000 — sitting sixth of 18 — while Lisandro comes in with the shortest stack, wielding 121,000. Loren Klein, however, has a WSOP bracelet of his own as well and comes into Day 3 with the chip lead.

Klein bagged 719,000 when the clock was paused on Day 2. Holding a slight lead over Chun Law with 638,000, Klein has the experience and skill set to conquer another WSOP final table. With over $1.2M in career WSOP cashes, Klein has made six final tables including two runner-up finishes in pot-limit Omaha events, not to mention his bracelet which he captured last year in a mixed no-limit hold’em/pot-limit Omaha event.

Sergej Barbarez (570,000), Jeff Williams (553,000) and Mark Wahba (462,000) currently round out the top five in the counts, with notables Danny Wong (299,000), Shankar Pillai (200,000) and Benjamin Juhasz (172,000) in the mix as well.

Pillai also holds a WSOP bracelet, capturing his back in 2007 in a $3,000 no-limit hold’em event. At least a third-place finish in this event will put Pillai over the $1 million mark in career WSOP earnings, as he currently rests at $925,596.

Other than the bracelet waiting for the eventual champ, so is a top prize of $231,483. By the end of the night, somebody will own both.
