Thorel Wins With River Bet

Nível 15 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Just as the first level of the day was coming to an end, Jean-Noel Thorel limped in from the small blind and Artur Martirosian checked his option from the big blind.

The flop was {3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and Thorel check-called a 25,000 bet from Martirosian. The turn was {7-Clubs}.

Both players checked the turn to see {a-Diamonds} on the river. Thorel fired 50,000 and Martirosian got away from it.

Jared “BeamDoctorPoker” Halter Streams PokerStars Platinum Pass Invitational Victory

Nível 15 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Jared Halter

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) is happening now, and later this month the PokerStars Players NLH Hold’em Championship (PSPC) will take place January 30-February 3. One man who will be heading to the Bahamas is 41-year-old Jared “BeamDoctorPoker” Halter, who won a Platinum Pass on PokerStars Michigan.

“I won a PSPC Platinum Pass on Wednesday, November 9,” Halter told PokerNews. “I had just returned from Vegas that morning on a red eye flight and slept for four hours on a friend’s couch before I drove home for two hours. To be honest, I was very fortunate to win because I had a very rough 72 hours. Some things happened in Vegas that caused me to have anxiety attacks for the first time in my life and I ended up only sleeping about five hours total in the previous 48.”

He continued: “I was exhausted and when the MTT started, I said to myself, it will take a miracle for me to win. Funny enough, I mis-clicked two different times early in the tourney and called three-bets with hands like 85o (I did not win those hands). I streamed the tourney, and only single tabled it, because of how tired and ungrounded I felt from the previous time. During the stream, I talked about how exhausted I was and how there was almost zero chance I win. Of course, as we know, the universe had a different plan.”

Kaverman Takes Big Pot From Thorel; Brewer Bows Out

Nível 15 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Chris Brewer

Action was heads up with a giant pot in the middle and {3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades} on the board when Byron Kaverman was facing a raise to 450,000 from the button. Kaverman had 175,000 out there and he added the chips to call. The river was {7-Hearts} and both players checked. Thorel turned over {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, but Kaverman had {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} to take the pot.

On the next hand, Chris Brewer raised to 175,000, leaving just 10,000 behind. Action folded around and Artur Martirosian called from the big blind. The flop was {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Brewer got his last 10,000 into the middle and the cards were turned up.

Chris Brewer: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Artur Martirosian: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The board finished up with no help for Brewer and he was out of the tournament in eighth place. The remaining seven players are now jockeying for six spots in the money.

Kaverman Raises Bonomo; Yan Takes From Martirosian

Nível 15 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Justin Bonomo raised to 55,000 from under the gun and action folded all the way around to Byron Kaverman in the big blind. Kaverman raised to 150,000 and Bonomo thought better of it so he tossed his hand in the muck.

On the next hand, Artur Martirosian raised to 50,000 and David Yan came along from the button before Byron Kaverman joined from the small blind. The flop was {10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Kaverman and Martirosian checked to Yan for a 50,000 bet. Kaverman folded and Martirosian called to see {6-Spades} on the turn. Martirosian check-folded when Yan fired 200,000.

Jean-Noel Thorel Leads Final 8 Players in 2023 PCA $250,000 Super High Roller

Welcome to the last and final day of the highest buy in event at the 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure at the beautiful Baha Mar Resort.

A total of 39 entries joined the field over the last two days and after the dust settled on Day 2, it was French businessman Jean-Noel Thorel who claimed the top spot in the $250,000 PSPC Super High Roller.

Only eight players remain in the hunt for PCA glory and the lions share of the massive $9,498,060 prize pool. The top six will find a return on their investment with the winner taking home a whopping $3,276,760.

Thorel comes into Day 3 with a stack of 2,295,000 but close on his heels is Canadian Sam Greenwood (1,755,000) and long-time chip leader David Yan (1,675,000) to round out the top three. Thorel, who is no stranger to these high-roller fields, has close to $8 million in live earnings and recently finished in eighth place only a week ago in Event #31: $25,000 8-Handed for $220,700.

Fourth on the overnight leaderboard is rising Russian star Artur Martirosian with 1,295,000, who finished third in the 2023 PCA $10,300 Main Event just a few days ago. All-time money leader Justin Bonomo already tasted success during the series as well and advanced with a healthy stack of 1,090,000.

Many big pots took place on the penultimate day and one that skyrocketed Thorel's stack was during the last level of the night when he cracked two ace-kings with king-queen suited to rise near the top of the leaderboard. He would then keep his foot on the gas pedal to finish the night with 92 big blinds to put to work today.

Day 3 kicks off at 12:30 p.m. local time and blinds will resume at Level 15 with 10,000/25,000 and a 25,000 big blind ante. Although players won't be able to catch the late registration of the $25,000 High Roller, they will be able to make the $100,000 High Roller at 8 p.m. EST.
